The January 2024 Coordination Meeting of the Disability Working Group (DWG) convened in Maiduguri, Borno State, and virtually via Microsoft Teams, commencing at 10:15 a.m. The session began with introductions followed by opening remarks from the DWG Coordinator, acknowledging partner support for disability inclusion efforts in northeast Nigeria. Key discussions centered on updates from the previous meeting, highlighting the development of a 5Ws reporting template and plans for local coordination meetings in various states by the end of 2024. The meeting also addressed progress on the multi-sectoral needs assessment (MSNA) and preparations for International Women’s Day 2024, aiming to inspire inclusion through workshops, skill-building initiatives, and awareness campaigns. Challenges such as late partner turnout were noted, alongside recommendations for comprehensive sector indicators in the 5Ws template and consideration of virtual or physical coordination meetings for improved participation. The session concluded with expressions of gratitude from stakeholders and plans for the next coordination meeting in February, with a total of 26 physical and 6 virtual participants contributing to the discussions.
